The DuroMax XP11000iH is a portable inverter generator that runs on gasoline or liquid propane, with a rotary selector on the control panel to switch fuels, including switching while the engine is running. On gasoline, the 459cc DuroMax OHV engine delivers 9,000 running watts and 11,000 starting watts. On propane, output drops slightly to 8,550 running watts and 10,450 starting watts. The unit ships with electric start (AGM battery included), a wireless remote that starts and stops the generator from up to 100 yards away, and a fold-away handle with 8.5-inch wheels for one-person moving on flat ground.

Why it works

The one thing to know
Carbon monoxide safety is non-negotiable
Portable generators produce carbon monoxide, an odorless gas that can reach lethal concentrations indoors within minutes. The CPSC recommends placing any portable generator at least 20 feet from all doors, windows, and vents, with the exhaust pointed away from the home. Never run a generator indoors, in a garage, on a covered porch, in a carport, or in any enclosed or partially enclosed space, even with doors or windows open. CO Alert provides a backup shutoff if carbon monoxide reaches dangerous levels near the unit, but it is not a substitute for correct placement. Not sold or shippable in California
The XP11000iH is not CARB-compliant and cannot be shipped to or sold in California under current state emissions rules. California residents looking for a comparable dual-fuel or inverter generator will need to search for a CARB-compliant model specifically, or consider a battery-based portable power station instead.
The other thing to plan for is weight and price. At roughly 216 pounds, this is not a unit one person carries up stairs, though the wheel kit and folding handle make it manageable on flat, level ground. It also costs meaningfully more than a conventional generator of comparable wattage, which is the trade you are making for inverter-quality power at this output. Maintenance
Run the generator under load for 15 to 30 minutes every 30 days to keep the engine and fuel system in working order. If gasoline is the primary fuel, use fuel stabilizer for any storage period longer than 30 days, since untreated gasoline degrades and can clog the fuel system. Propane does not require this step.
Check the oil level before every use. DuroMax's engines use an automatic low-oil shutdown to help prevent damage if the level runs low. Follow the schedule in the included manual for oil change intervals, typically an initial change earlier in the engine's life and then at longer intervals once broken in. Inspect the air filter and spark plug annually, and keep the electric start battery on a trickle charger or disconnected during long storage so it holds a charge.
