Check health coverage options.
You have 60 days to elect COBRA. Texas Medicaidmay cover your household at the state benefits portal.
Apply for food and utility assistance.
Apply through the state benefits portal. SNAP takes up to 30 days to process — apply sooner rather than later.
Call 211.

Unemployment benefits
File online through the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) at the state portal. Texas has NO waiting week — benefits begin from first week of unemployment. File online via Unemployment Benefits Services (UBS) at twc.texas.gov. A 27% total wage rule may reduce payable weeks for claimants with uneven quarterly earnings. Three work search contacts per week required.
