Disclosure
Affiliate links, product recommendations, and what they mean for the gear you see on this site. No surprises.
The short version
Some pages on New World Survival contain affiliate links. If you purchase a product through one of those links, the site earns a small commission at no additional cost to you. The price you pay is exactly the same as if you found the product on your own.
This commission comes from the retailer's marketing budget, not from your pocket. It is one of the ways this site pays for hosting, research time, and the tools needed to keep it running.
The Federal Trade Commission requires material relationships like these to be disclosed clearly and conspicuously. That is what this page does. Every page on the site that contains affiliate links also includes a shorter disclosure notice near the product recommendations.
Editorial independence
Product recommendations on this site are based on practical usefulness, build quality, and honest value. I recommend gear I would put in my own kit and gear I would hand to a family member. Commission rates do not determine what gets recommended.
The site applies four tests to every product before it appears on a page:
If not, it does not appear on the site regardless of commission.
Practical tools that solve real problems. Nothing tactical-branded or fear-marketed.
A pressure canner teaches a skill. A 200-item "survival bucket" replaces one. I prefer the first.
"$30 to $60" beats "affordable." You deserve real numbers, not vague reassurance.
How it works
When you click a product link on this site and make a purchase, a small tracking cookie tells the retailer that the referral came from New World Survival. The retailer then pays this site a percentage of the sale, typically between 1% and 8% depending on the product category and the retailer's program.
You pay the same price either way. The commission comes from the retailer's existing marketing budget. If you would rather not use an affiliate link, you can always search for the product directly on the retailer's website. I will not know the difference and I will not think less of you.
This site may participate in affiliate programs from Amazon Associates, direct brand partnerships, and other affiliate networks. Specific affiliate relationships may change over time. This page will be updated when they do.
What we do not do
No pay-for-placement. Companies cannot pay to be recommended on this site. If a product appears in a kit page, review, or article, it is because I evaluated it and found it genuinely useful.
No affiliate-stuffed lists. You will not find pages with 47 linked products and no editorial substance. Every recommendation is supported by an explanation of why it is useful, what it costs, and who it is for.
No hidden sponsorships. If a company sponsors content, provides free products for review, or has any material relationship with this site beyond a standard affiliate link, it will be disclosed on the page where it appears.
No fake reviews or inflated claims. Product descriptions are honest. If something has a drawback, I will say so. If a cheaper alternative works just as well, I will tell you about it.
Identification
Every page with affiliate links includes a disclosure callout near the product recommendations. It looks like this:
Affiliate disclosure: New World Survival earns a small commission on purchases made through links on this page, at no cost to you. We only recommend gear we'd put in our own kit.
If you see that notice, some of the product links on that page are affiliate links. If you do not see it, there are no affiliate links on that page.
Questions
If you have questions about how affiliate links work on this site, or if you believe a recommendation is misleading, contact me through the site. I take editorial integrity seriously and I am happy to explain any product decision.
