What this site is. What it isn't.

Plain language about what New World Survival does, what it does not do, and your responsibility when using anything you find here.

General disclaimer

This is an educational site.

Educational Purpose and Scope

New World Survival is an independent educational platform dedicated to self-reliance, emergency preparedness, and practical resilience. All content provided on this website is intended strictly for general informational and educational purposes.

Professional Counsel

Content published on this site is thoroughly researched using public safety documentation, technical literature, and established industry guidelines (please view our Sources Page for a list of consulted agencies and references). However, information on this platform does not constitute professional medical, legal, financial, engineering, electrical, construction, agricultural, or emergency-management counsel.

Safety-related procedures, food preservation, water treatment, structural modifications, and electrical tasks carry inherent risks and may be subject to specific local laws, permits, or building codes. Always consult qualified, licensed professionals such as certified physicians, structural engineers, electricians, or local officials for individualized guidance tailored to your specific situation and jurisdiction.

Individual Responsibility and Risk Assumption

You are solely responsible for evaluating your personal health, household needs, technical skill level, local regulations, and risk tolerance prior to implementing any concepts, tutorials, or strategies described on this site. Reliance on any information provided here is done solely at your own risk.

Active Emergency Guidance

This website is an educational reference and cannot provide active emergency assistance. In an active emergency or life-threatening situation, immediately call 911 or your local emergency response service. Always prioritize real-time directives issued by local emergency management, fire departments, law enforcement, public health authorities, and utility providers.

Accuracy and Information Standards

While every attempt is made to keep information accurate, practical, and current by referencing authoritative agencies (see our Sources Page for our research methodology), public safety standards and local regulations evolve. New World Survival makes no guarantees regarding the absolute completeness, accuracy, or universal applicability of any content on this site. Treat this website as a foundational educational resource rather than a replacement for direct expert consultation or official public alerts.

Medical & first aid

First-aid content is not medical advice.

First-aid and health-related content on this site is for general preparedness education only. It does not replace professional training, diagnosis, or treatment from a licensed medical provider.

For serious injuries, severe symptoms, poisoning, allergic reactions, chest pain, breathing trouble, altered consciousness, major bleeding, suspected stroke, suspected heart attack, or any urgent medical concern: call 911 or seek emergency medical care immediately.

I strongly encourage readers to take certified first-aid, CPR, AED, and stop-the-bleed training from qualified organizations such as the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, or local community programs. Hands-on training with a qualified instructor is always better than reading about it online.

For the full medical disclaimer covering fitness, food safety, medications, mental health, and health-related product recommendations, see the Medical & Health Disclaimer page.

Household safety

Real skills involve real risks.

Content involving food storage, water treatment, heating, generators, fuel, sanitation, tools, gardening, livestock, repairs, or household systems may involve safety risks. Always follow manufacturer instructions, local building and fire codes, food-safety guidance, and applicable laws.

Do not use outdoor equipment indoors unless it is specifically rated and approved for indoor use. Improper use of generators, heaters, fuels, chemicals, tools, or improvised systems can cause injury, fire, poisoning, carbon monoxide exposure, property damage, or death.

Food preservation carries specific risks. Improperly canned food can cause botulism, which is potentially fatal. Always follow tested recipes from USDA, the National Center for Home Food Preservation, or your state cooperative extension service. I try to link to tested sources whenever possible, but you should always verify preservation methods against current official guidance before putting food on your shelf.

Tools & calculators

Estimates, not guarantees.

Calculators, interactive tools, risk assessments, planting calendars, checklists, and other interactive features on this site produce general estimates based on publicly available data. They should not be used as the sole basis for safety, medical, financial, structural, or emergency-planning decisions.

ZIP-code-based risk tools use historical data and public datasets. They cannot predict specific future events and may not reflect the most recent changes to your area's risk profile. Always verify risk information with your local emergency management agency and the National Weather Service.

Local information

Local data is provided for convenience.

Local alert dashboards, maps, ZIP-code tools, resource directories, and community event calendars are provided for convenience only. They should not be treated as your sole source of emergency information or event details.

Community calendar events are compiled from public sources including organizational emails, event websites, and public announcements. Events get cancelled, venues change, dates shift. Always verify event details directly with the hosting organization before attending.

During active emergencies, rely on official local, state, and federal sources: your local emergency management agency, National Weather Service alerts, public health departments, fire and police agencies, utility providers, and 911 services. Ready.gov is an excellent starting point for federal preparedness guidance.

No guarantee

Preparedness reduces risk. It doesn't eliminate it.

New World Survival does not guarantee that following any checklist, article, plan, calculator, recommendation, or guide will prevent injury, loss, hardship, property damage, illness, or death. The purpose of this site is education. The decisions and actions are yours.

By using this website, you acknowledge that you are responsible for your own decisions and actions, and that you will consult qualified professionals for advice specific to your situation.

Community content

Content from other people.

If comments, forums, community submissions, or reader-contributed content appear on this site in the future, those contributions reflect the views of the individual contributors, not New World Survival. I am not responsible for the accuracy, safety, or legality of content posted by others.

I reserve the right to remove, edit, or decline to publish any user-contributed content at any time, for any reason.
