Housing, Renting & Homeownership

How to compare renting and owning honestly, understand what housing really costs, read the agreements that create obligations, evaluate a property before committing, and prepare for the disruptions that threaten where you live.

What this course covers

Understanding the place where you live as a financial and practical commitment.

Housing is most households' largest expense and longest obligation. This course treats it as a contract, an operating cost, and a responsibility structure, so you can make decisions from the real numbers and the real terms rather than the headline payment or the cultural assumption.

What it covers

Renting vs. owning by circumstance, the full cost of each path, reading a lease, mortgages and closing, property evaluation, housing and self-reliance, disruption preparedness, and a housing reality sheet that puts the whole picture in one view.

What it does not cover

Mortgage brokering, real-estate investing, landlord operations, 50-state tenant law, home repair (Unit 8), utility systems (Unit 9), full budgeting (Unit 10), deep insurance curriculum (Unit 11), or household records (Unit 16).

Eight modules, three tiers.

Work through them in order. Each tier ends with something you can point to and say the household can now do this.
