The panel is a map, not a project
Every home has an electrical service panel, and most people could not describe where theirs is. It sits in a utility closet, a garage wall, or a basement corner, quietly doing the most important safety job in the house: breaking circuits when something goes wrong. Understanding what it does and how to use it safely is one of the most practical things a household can learn. It is also one of the clearest places where this course draws a line.
That line is worth stating plainly. This module teaches you to find the panel, map your circuits from the outside, reset a tripped breaker when the cause is obvious, and recognize the signs that mean something is wrong. It does not teach you to open the panel cover, work on wiring, add circuits, or do anything that involves touching the internal components. That work requires training, licensing in many jurisdictions, and tools you do not want to be learning on.
What the panel tells you from the outside
You can learn a great deal about your home's electrical system without opening anything. Circuit mapping is a safe exercise that involves nothing more than a lamp, a partner or a radio, and patience: turn off one breaker at a time, note what goes dark, and label it. In half an hour, you will know which breaker controls the kitchen, which controls the bedroom, and whether anything is mislabeled. That knowledge is worth having before you need it.
GFCIs are the other piece of your electrical safety system you should know by name and location. They are the outlets with TEST and RESET buttons, required in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and outdoor locations. Testing them is a ten-second exercise built right into the device.
A breaker that trips once is doing its job. A breaker that trips repeatedly is telling you something, and resetting it harder is not listening.
The stop points

Find your electrical panel and record its location. Without opening the cover, note whether the breakers are labeled. Map at least three circuits by switching one breaker off at a time, noting which outlets and lights go dark, and improving the label. Then locate every GFCI outlet in your home and test each one using its built-in TEST/RESET buttons. Record any that will not reset.
