How we chose

What decided each pick

The field divided on three questions. First, connector: MC4 panels work with any station, Jackery panels work only with Jackery. We awarded across the MC4 field, where the reader has real choice. Second, shade handling: parallel wiring (BLUETTI PV200) outperforms series wiring in partial shade by a wide margin. Third, build quality and waterproofing: IP68 panels (EcoFlow, Jackery 200W) survive conditions that IP65 panels do not.

Real-world output ranged from 75 to 90 percent of rated watts across all eight panels. No panel consistently delivered its nameplate rating. The charging math section in our solar panels handbook explains why.
