The Environment and Climate Change Canada alert feed, read at 5:00 this morning Universal time, carries 283 active alerts nationally. None of them are in Atlantic Canada. The alerts are held by Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and the Northwest Territories.
Nothing is active in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, or Newfoundland and Labrador.
Infrastructure
The fire season here is effectively over. The Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre's national situation report for September 7 shows no fires under full response in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, or Prince Edward Island, and one in Newfoundland and Labrador at seven hectares. No new fires started in any of the four provinces yesterday.
Agency preparedness levels are at 1, the lowest on the scale, in Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.
Season totals stand at 352 fires and 485 hectares in New Brunswick, 115 fires and 1,525 hectares in Nova Scotia, eight fires and four hectares in Prince Edward Island, and 130 fires and 96,303 hectares in Newfoundland and Labrador.
No infrastructure disruptions were identified across the region.

The item worth knowing in this region in September is what the Atlantic is doing, and right now it is doing nothing.
The National Hurricane Center's tropical weather outlook, issued at 8:00 last evening Eastern time, states that tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next seven days anywhere in the North Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea, or the Gulf. That is the whole basin, for a full week, in the second week of September.
This region sits at the northern end of the track that carries storms up the eastern seaboard, and its exposure runs later in the autumn than the American Southeast's does. A quiet week now is a window rather than a conclusion.
The window is worth using for the two items that matter most here.
The first is trees. Post-tropical storms arriving in Atlantic Canada bring wind against fully leafed trees on saturated ground, which is why they take out power for days rather than hours. A limb over the driveway or leaning on a service line is a September job, and it is cheaper and easier now than after.
The second is the outage itself. Four litres of water per person per day for three days, food that needs no cooking, prescriptions filled, phones and battery banks charged, and a battery or hand crank radio for official information. If a generator is part of your plan, it runs outdoors only, well away from the house, with the exhaust pointed away from windows, doors, and vents, and the house needs working carbon monoxide alarms on every level and outside sleeping areas, tested monthly.
The other seasonal note is coastal. Higher than normal tides through the autumn mean that shoreline roads and low properties take water on ordinary days without any storm involved. Knowing which road on your route does that is a fact you learn once.
